Is It a Murder of ‘Ko Ko Korina’ original version by Ahad Raza Mir and Momina Mustehsan

The Momina-Ahad version of the song, that aired on Coke Studio season 11 marking the Ahad’s singing debut, has been trending for all the wrong reasons among netizens.

The past few days on Pakistani social media have been nothing less than a storm. A Ko Ko Korina storm that has triggered most of Pakistan’s music lovers. Or any person to be exact. Even if someone likes the Coke Studio’s version of Koko Korina, sung by the heartthrob Ahad Raza Mir and Momina Mustehsan, they wouldn’t dare to appreciate the song.

The war started on twitter between Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari and Momina when Shireen Mazari tweeted her reaction as;

“Horrendous!” she wrote. “Destroyed a great classic – why oh why, did Coke Studio allow such a massacre of this classic song?”

To this, the Awaari singer responded, “Apologies for hurting your sentiments. It is your right to judge us and express your outrage, just like it was our right to exercise our freedom of expression. As our Minister for Human Rights, you should appreciate Coke Studio for allowing us to express ourselves, especially if it was horrendous.”
